DDNOS includes some particularly peculiar disorders. Among them are the effects of brainwashing, experiences of possession, and trance states. Another even more unusual example is "Ganser Syndrome," a condition in which the individual gives approximate answers to every question. These patients seem to understand questions but evade, perhaps deliberately, giving the correct answer; 2 + 3 may become 6, or Christmas is celebrated on Thanksgiving day. Patient and accepting psychotherapy may be the best treatment available for most categories of patients with DDNOS.
