Orgasmic Disorders

The three subcategories of diagnosable orgasmic disorder are Female Orgasmic Disorder, Male Orgasmic Disorder, and Premature Ejaculation. The two orgasmic disorders are alike in that their diagnoses are made if orgasm is unduly delayed or completely absent. The clinician must make a judgment in each individual case about what constitutes "unduly;" that is, the clinician must decide whether the stimulation and circumstances should have been sufficient to produce orgasm in the absence of any disorder. Age is one circumstance to consider, and the behavior of the sex partner is another. Premature Ejaculation is one behavior that often leads to absence of female orgasm. Luckily, treatment of Premature Ejaculation is very effective, and retarded ejaculation and impotence are also often treatable. People with orgasmic disorders should seek a licensed and experienced sex therapist for treatment; symptomatic treatment, not insight therapy, is the treatment of choice if the goal is simply to overcome an orgasmic disorder.

Read a book on the subject:
