Conditions That May Be a Focus of Clinical Attention
These "other conditions" are placed in a
separate category because they are not mental disorders; rather,
they are either effects of mental disorders, effects of medications
taken for mental disorders, or problems that are largely independent
of mental disorders. Nevertheless, these problems are both frequent
and important, and dealing with them is a large part of the practice
of most mental health professionals. Dealing with them also presents
great difficulties for the general public, which is why
professionals are consulted so often for help with them. Select the
categories below for brief descriptions of each of these types of
problems.
