Sexual Dysfunctions (medically caused)

Sexual Dysfunction Due to a General Medical Condition is just what it sounds like. The surprising thing is how many medical conditions can lead to sexual dysfunction. All the other types of dysfunction can be included in the "medically caused" category. For example, the clinician could diagnose "Male Erectile Dysfunction Due to a General Medical Condition," or Female Dyspareunia Due to a General Medical Condition." A very common condition is erectile dysfunction due to diabetes. A much-abbreviated list of conditions that could lead to sexual dysfunction includes hypogonadal states, pituitary dysfunction, spinal cord lesions, multiple sclerosis, many other endocrine imbalances, and various infectious conditions, particularly of the genitourinary parts of the anatomy. Complications from prostate operations are also a frequent source of problems. Obviously, the prognosis for the sexual dysfunction in these cases depends on the prognosis for the medical problem, but therapy directed toward the sexual dysfunction itself may be necessary or helpful after the physical problem is resolved.
